Monday 24th April

Dear diary,

As Moo turns 5 months old today, I am feeling in need of a muffin top diet now more than ever.

I’ve been religiously sticking to the 5:2 fasting principles since 6 weeks postpartum, and it’s kindly assisted me in a lovely stone’s worth of weight loss. However, I need more, faster.

I know what you’re going to say. Relax mumma, you don’t need to rush. It took 9 months to grow her, you’re not going to deflate overnight. I know this. I tell myself this everyday.

But knowing it doesn’t happen overnight and sitting around contemplating this while stuffing my face with chocolate is not going to do anyone any favours. I’ve already tried the rubbish ways to lose weight.

I need to take action. And diary, I need to do it today.

So what is the muffin top diet?

I don’t 100% know yet, but I will be using this weekly diary series to find out.

Every Monday, I will be posting a diary entry to discuss the food, exercise and weight loss results of the previous week. I may be trying an assortment of things to shift those stubborn pounds and I’ll report back on every win and every setback along the way.

I have two weddings and a holiday coming up from July onwards, so I have given myself until then to get sorted. MILF-hood, here I come.


What will I be trying this week then?

So diary friend, this week, I am combining two completely different diet and exercise plans to see how much I can shift.

Diet: I have randomly decided to try the Special K diet. I’m not sure it’s a thing anymore, but I’m doing it anyway as my first attempt of the muffin top diet. I came upon this fantastic idea when I walked past a box in Sainsbury’s and it was down to £2. That’s literally how it went down. So, this week, I shall be eating a bowl of Special K for breakfast and lunch and then a healthy meal for dinner. On fast days, I’ll just have the one bowl – call it brunch.

Exercise: It had to happen sooner or later. This week, I’ll be getting back on Kayla Itsines’s Bikini Body Guide (BBG). I loved this program when I was prepping for my wedding. I had no space in our Brighton flat so would do it in the communal corridor. My neighbours loved me… But now I have a lovely house that I can jump around in willy nilly. I’ll be taking it slightly more easier than I did when I was all lithe and toned, but I’ll be giving it my best shot.

You bet I will. Every Monday, I will give you an honest run-down of my progress and weight loss on my muffin top diet.

I’ll let you know if I’m changing up the diet and exercise – and I’ll share my highlights and failures (hopefully none) of the previous week.

    I have been following Slimming World since just before I fell pregnant with Wills. I had no idea how great it would be, but in the 6 weeks after having him purely by eating well (zero exercise!) I was back to pre-baby weight, without even trying! Since then I’ve lost another 1.5 stone-ish, and I have to say it’s the easiest, most family friendly, post prwgnancy friendly “diet” I’ve ever done! Good luck with your challenge! #MarvMondays

        Seriously! Takes a bit of planning on the first week just filling your cupboards with all the good stuff, but once you’re there that’s it! Shepherds pie for dinner tonight, sofa bol on Wednesday…! All SW 👍🏻

    Good luck Lucy! I need to get my a*** into action too – it’s been 8 months since Max was born!!! But I’m finding my weight isn’t shifting the same way second time round 🙁 plus, I’m 5 years older so just not the same metabolism any more. xx P.S. I looooove the photo 🙂
