Welcome to my guest series ‘My body is beautiful because…’
I’m joined by the lovely Kate from Mowglization today with her musings on how her body has gotten to where it is today. It’s a pretty empowering message!
Tell us about it, Kate…
For as long as I remember I have had “body issues”, even before I became a Mum. I was full of puppy fat from the age of 13 to 18, which was quite a shock to my system as I was a really skinny child.
The puppy fat dropped away as it does and I had a couple of years before my body became covered in stretch marks, cellulite and my skin became saggy in places.
My entire body changed because it became the safe cocoon for a tiny baby. My body fed and protected a tiny little life until it was ready to face the world.
The female body is the perfect growing and feeding machine for tiny miracles.
My body grew, fed and nurtured my son. The body I have today is the way it is due to my life and circumstances.
For every scar, stretch mark, grey hair, age spot, skin tag, wrinkle and sign of cellulite there is a story. I made these imperfections and I earned them.
They are all tiny little reminders of silly mistakes, drunken antics, moments of stress, hours of laughter and a joyous pregnancy.
My body is my map, it is my diary of my life written across my skin.
Some days I love it, some days I hate it but I am always proud of it.
It portrays my journeys, my ups, downs, trials and tribulations. Every downfall that has made me stronger and every celebration that has made me who I am today.
It has run through forests, lugged me up mountains and accomplished many other unbelievable feats. It’s the most intelligent, perfect, incredible piece of equipment I will ever own and I love it.
Thank you Kate – I love the idea of ‘earning’ imperfections and the reminder of drunken antics! It makes me think that our bodies are more like stories of our lives… how amazing is that!?
